Special Collection Additions #3, #4
Obsolete and Restcure Revival are the latest zines to be added to the glorious ranks of the Parcell Press Special Collection. Not only have these zines been remarkably popular in the last few months, but they’ve impressed me in more than a few ways.
Katie Haegele has been writing zines since at least 2003 when I first met her at the Philly Zine Fest. I meet a lot of people at zine fests and often, unfortunately, I either forget a name-face combination or just never really hear again from someone who seems to emit a limitless amount of enthusiasm for writing, self-publishing, creating, and reading zines. Katie was showing off her zine Word Math, which surprised me as one of very few poetry zines that was both engaging and unique. This was the early zine work of a writer already very well practiced and very passionate. Katie has since produced such classics as Hallowing of a House, The La-La Theory, White Blackbirds, and many more. A truly talented storyteller who adores and perfects her craft, Katie is a particularly passionate and accessible poet. Her self-published book of poems, Obsolete, was released in March of 2008 and has turned quite a few heads since. Not only is it very well-conceived — a collection of 26 separate poems each inspired by an antiquated English word — but it is beautifully designed and masterfully printed (if I may say so myself). Leave it to Katie Haegele to push the envelope on self-publishing and to successfully package her very unique voice into something both rugged, professional, and independent.
I have to come clean: Travis Robertson and Max Hubenthal are my tight Virginia homies; they’re exceptionally talented printmakers with whom I continue to share a print studio in North Richmond, and so you can call me biased, but there’s no question that they’re really two of the most exciting illustrators and artists that I know. When we’re all fortunate enough that these two dudes are living in the same town, Travis and Max collaborate on illustrations, printing methods, and the construction of their books. Restcure Revival, a product of this collaboration, is a fun and complicated zine (or piece of book art, even) that combines printing methods and styles in such a way that three mini comic zines become a single book, and that one oversized poster screen print becomes its cover. As many print art enthusiasts have already, when you approach Restcure Revival, you’ll find something like a Russian doll that becomes bigger as it gets smaller, and the result of print artisans’ obsession.

Every time i try to use system restore i receive the error, “System restore is not able to protect your computer. Please restart your computer and run system restore again.” But no matter how many times i restart my computer nothing changes, and i keep getting the same exact message. I currently have a virus and cannot boot into safe mode with command prompt, so that is not an option at the moment.

I have this problem, in which, I want to link two VBA windows, my problem is this: when I open the first archive :p, all’s ok, but when I open the second window and open another archive, the window is totally blank and I don’t if there’s a problem about my VBA, if i need some type of configuration, or what!? Whenever I open a folder filled with files, it’s usually not in the right view that I want, so I click on view on the taskbar and then on list. Is there a hotkey I can use to do this easily.

It was awhile ago when I saw it, but there is apparently something you can download and burn to a disk and it will delete just about everything from your computer to make reformatting easier. Anybody know what the website is? There are missing, necessary files on our desktop or there may have been a virus and now its all screwy. I just got a laptop so was able to transfer all the stuff I needed from the desktop to the laptop, so it’d be better just to reformat since I already have everything backed up here so to speak. unlock iphone 3g

So I got a new computer in the middle of October, it is a Toshiba Satellite A500/040, came with Windows vista Home premium. I got a Windows 7 upgrade disc that is only for my computer. I have upgraded my Laptop to windows 7 and am now having troubles… I think I picked up a few viruses and I am wanting to re-install windows to get my laptop back to normal. The only problem is I am not entirely sure if I can re-use the Upgrade disc. Does anyone know if I can? And if not, what I can do? I’ve had my laptop a little over 3 years and it’s been slowing down over the years. For example, it takes a couple minutes to open Mozilla Firefox. I know it has to do with all of the junk on my hard drive, but I don’t know how to go about cleaning it out. Should I completely wipe out my computer and start anew? If so, - will I have to re-order/ pay for programs such as Norton Antivirus? - will I need to install another copy of Microsoft Office/ buy a new version? Or, is there any FREE program that can help clean out the junk on my hard drive without completely wiping it out? If so, - Please name and describe the program. Okay..I’m totally a newb at this and I don’t really know much about what’s going on in my computer, but one day I was playig sims 2 and my computer shut down and restarted, and so I didn’t really make a big deal out of it until it kept happening. Then yesterday my comp started being extremely slow. I thought I had some type of virus so I tried doing a virus scan, and while waiting for that to finish I installed mAlwarebytes and got it installed but for some reason it didn’t run. So I installed adwarebot and did a scan and it showed me over 500 infected files and I removed them all. Then I tried turning off the automatic restarting thing, then suddenly I got the BSOD, saying I had the driver_irql_not_less_or_equal. And I have no idea what that means, and basically I haven’t been able to find out what the problem was because whenever I try to do I virus scan I can’t succesfully finish it wihout my comp restarting randomly. unlock iphone 3g

I have the Adobe Web Premium CS4 package and I’ve been using Soundbooth to record sounds with the “What you hear” setting, except today when i loaded it up it’s decided I either use a mic or the digital input from my Creative X-fi or gtfo. I’ve tried playing aorund with the audio hardware but nothing has brought back that option and its realy frustrating as I’m halfway through a project. Any help much appreciated.

I tried to copy some files from my usb flash key to my computer. When I tried to delete the files from the flash key it says “Cannot delete file. Cannot find specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path or file name.” I then get a bubble message on my toolbar saying “Delayed write failed” I’ve tried to reformat it but it won’t let me. Any ideas? I recently tried to burn a Ubuntu live cd with a software called Imgburn.I was using this software because somebody told me it would only work if I burned it as a image and not just simply burn it. When I tried to burn ubuntu on the disc it gave me an error and told me to check the condition. I dont know what is wrong, the disc is perfectly fine and has 700 mb while the program only has 690 mb so the cd should have enough space. Can somebody please help because I need to make a Ubuntu live cd to repair a dead pc that lost its winlogon.exe, so I need to use the ubuntu live cd to restore the lost winlogon.exe on the damaged computer

I deleted norton virus since my account already expired. So I borrowed my brother’s Mcafee and installed it to my computer. I tried getting on the Internet but when I do the page connection says cannot be connected. So I checked the signal strength and it says ” very good” but it’s still not connected? Unless hackers and viruses have turned a new leaf what did I do that fixed my pc. It was glitching every so often the programs would say not responding and have a white film over them I couldn’t do nothing I did the following. Scanned for viruses with Nod 32 scanned with spy bot (found faults) scanned with pc utillities (found faults) I also booted and tryed fixing with the windows cd the final thing I tried was to boot in safe mode which was the last thing I did and it started working so was it the safe mode and the only thing I can see altering is the visual display. did this fix my pc. Let me start off by saying what actually happens with videos. Whenever a page comes up that has a potential video on it, ones in which you can click a play button, my computer freezes up immediately. I ran a virus scan and there are no viruses. Literally, a second after the page comes up it freezes and the “program is not responding”. It was working fine early today. Now that I think back though, a message came up that was asking for me to grant permission or something and I may have clicked never but I can’t remember what is was asking for etc. Are there any common downloads I could do or any security options that I can get around? I have a Dell Latitude Laptop using Windows XP. I took it to Geek Squad because it was skipping and the freezing up when I played DVDs or any kind of audio. When it freezes I have to turn it off witut shutting it down. It also wouldn’t freeze right away..it freezes into about 10 minutes of playing the DVD. It was also making weird noises when it froze. Best Buy informed me that the noise wasn’t any hardware issue, but the kind of noise the computer makes when it’s frozen. They said nothing was wrong hardware wise, and that I had 6 viruses on the laptop. Well now, all those viruses are removed, and my laptop is still skipping and freezing when I play DVDs..to the point where I have to turn off the computer without shutting it down. Also, now it freezes and makes a weird noises when I’m not playing any audio. If it’s not viruses, and geek squad said everything is fine with the computer physically, then what is it? I have an iPod and it was hooked up to my old computer, but my old computer got a virus and I had to throw it out. I have all of my music on my iPod. Hello, I currently bought a computer and i installed all the anti-virus and other software. I want my internet to work but when i go to my hardware files. Ethernet Controller and Bus Controller and 2 other software have a question mark next to them. It says that there is errors installing it. Alright, today it seems like my mom’s computer has a virus attack… so I just try to find a way to fix it, but i can’t, why? BECAUSE EVERY SINGLE PROGRAM IS INFECTED. I found it hard to believe that everything could be infected and thought it was just an antivirus plot for us to buy something. We don’t have really have an antivirus (Just the standard free scan only that come installed every computer) but a thing that keeps popping up is antivirus live or something along the lines of that. Also, the webpage porno.com or .org or something like keeps popping up. I ran it in safe mode but guess what? It isn’t safe, we tried installing an antivirus but after it installed, we couldn’t use it, it had been affected as well. Before we ran a sweep with spy sweeper and only cookies showed up. Malware bytes antimalware couldn’t find anything either? I have two computers that I’m now having problems with. yesterday, my first computer shut down and said “RPC has been terminated”. everytime I restart that computer, it gives me another 1:00 minute shut down warning. I know I need to change the settings of the RPC, but it shuts down before I can ever get to it. is there another way to fix this? The second computer messed up today. I was researching how to fix the other RPC problem and my computer shut down. when it rebooted, I now have “Internet security 2010″ installed and I can’t delete it. I had a similiar virus before and was able to manually delete the virus, but this one won’t let me open task manager or the registry to delete it. it’s even taken over my Internet and won’t let me on. so I’m stuck trying to research problems on my iPhone. I read somewhere that if you can’t get task manager to open that you need to wipe out your hard drive.
